The Sassy Farm Chicks Quilt Company
The Sassy Farm Chicks Quilt Company
Each year, we begin a Mystery Quilt in January, with a new clue each month on the second Saturday. Then, on May 10, it's the big reveal!
Here's how it works: Each month beginning in January, you'll receive a clue for the quilt we're all making. January's clue will provide the fabric requirements too. We'll share the clue in the shop at 10:00am first with a demonstration of how it's made. Then the clue will be emailed soon after that to all participants - in case you can't make it that month or for folks that live far away from the shop. You'll sew the work for each month according to the clue. But the parts of the quilt are all mixed up, so you won't know what you're making until the reveal in May. Fun! (Rhonda here - I like to make a big deal out of the reveal...)
We like to show them all off at The Airing Of The Quilts on September 13, 2025. Each Mystery Quilter gets 15% off the quilting of their Mystery QuiIt too if you bring it to us. There is no fee for The Mystery Quilt. If you would like in on the fun, just let us know by email, phone, or stop in the shop and tell us. We'll need your email address for the list too. Come on and join us! We love a good Mystery!
The 2025 South Central Wisconsin Quilt Shop Association Shop Hop "From Dairyland To The Dells" will begin on Saturday, February 1st and go til Friday, February 28th. There are 16 participating shops this year!
The Sassy Farm Chicks will be open Tuesday through Friday 10 til 5, and on Saturdays 10 til 2 during the month of February.
This Shop Hop is a fundraiser for Gilda's Club Madison, an organization that provides resources for those diagnosed with cancer. There will be many opportunities for supporting Gilda's Club, lots of fun shopping, and prizes to win!
Join our Block Swap! We'll begin at the shop on Thursday, February 6 at 6:00pm. We'll discuss the Millie's Dresses blocks, the fabrics we'll use, and introduce the background fabric. The fee is $25.00 and will include the pattern and 2 yards of the background fabric. You'll make 12 blocks and we'll meet back together at the shop on Thursday, April 17 to swap the blocks. It' so fun to see the blocks that others make!

To show our appreciation, we offer the Square Yard Card program beginning January 1, 2025.
We figure the quilting area of your top by square yards. Mostly because it's easier to envision square yards than square inches. We'll keep a card for each quilter and keep track of the square yards of quilting from quilt to quilt. When 10 square yards is reached, you may choose to take 10% off the quilting cost of your next project. If you prefer to wait til 20 square yards is reached, then you can receive 20% off the quilting cost of the next project. Then we'll start again for the next discount!
Meeting on the last Saturday of each month in 2025 at 10:00am, Orfordville Lutheran Church.
Vintage and Antique quilts are so admired and collected. This club will re-make our own versions of them. Currently we're working on a Drunkard's Path quilt! A challenge for most of us! The history of the block and the quilt will be shared on each quilt selected. This will be a "Sew Day" format, as we each work on our own quilt in our own time.
There will be no fee for this club.
The Dairyland Quilts of Valor Chapter is a group of folks that make quilts and present them to Veterans of all ages. There are sew days at the American Legion and Orfordville Lutheran Church in Orfordville. The Chapter accepts donations of patriotic fabric and quilts, takes nominations of veterans to receive quilts, and presents them at local veterans centers and events.

Sassy Farm Chicks Quilt Company is part of the growing downtown area in Orfordville, Wisconsin, just west of the Beloit / Janesville area on Highway 213. Orfordville is a small farm town with great shops, fun community events, and 6 (yes, 6!) restaurants.
The Chicks are longarm quilters that enjoy all aspects of quilting - both edge to edge and custom designs. Together they share many years of sewing and quilting experience, and have been longarm quilting professionally on a Gammill Statler Stitcher named Mrs. McDonald since 2013. We offer an increasing amount of quilting fabrics, patterns, quilting notions and tools, and quilt kits for sale.
Stop in anytime to visit!
We offer longarm quilting services - both all over designs and custom quilting. We also quilt T Shirt Quilts. Prices vary as to the size of your quilt, the density of the design, and customization. Bring your quilt top in, we'll look it over and visit with you about it, then come up with a perfect quilt design to make your work of art an amazing finished quilt.
You can choose from many fabrics that blend perfectly with fabrics that you may already have to complete your project! Prints, Solids, Batiks, Panels, Fat Quarters, and Quilt Kits. There are seasonal collections by well known designers. New fabrics are arriving each month - so be sure to check in often!
Quilters either love binding a quilt, or don't love binding a quilt. If you don't love it, we can do it for you! We'll add a machine sewn or hand sewn binding, which ever you prefer.
The Pattern series, A-OK 5 Yard Quilts use 5 - 1 yard cuts of fabric. We've done the work for you, and have 5 co-ordinating fabrics put together. For $65.00, a pattern is included with 5 yards of fabric, and you get to choose it!
We've made all of the quilts in the series, and they are displayed throughout our shop. Each pattern is written simply and easy to follow, and sews up quickly. A generous throw size when finished, they are perfect for gifts!
Tops should be pressed and extra threads removed from the front and the back. We have many thread colors to use, and can help you choose the right color to showcase your piece work. There are so many patterns that are available to us, and we can talk with you to choose the perfect one if you like. If we don't have one that you're thinking of, we can most likely get it!
Backing fabrics should be at least 5 inches larger on all sides of the top to allow us to load the quilt sandwich on our machine. The back should have all seams pressed flat. If you don't yet have a backing, we can make one for you using a co-ordinating fabric that we sell in our shop.
You are most welcome to bring a batting of your choice for your quilt. We have Pellon 80% cotton / 20% poly batting for purchase also. We also are able to get specialty battings for you - wool, bamboo, silk, 100% poly, and others. Sometimes, a quilt warrants a specialty batting to get the look that is perfect for your finished quilt.
A local chapter, this growing group makes quilts for veterans in the Rock County Community. Quilts are made and awarded in a moving ceremony to veterans by nomination. Red, White, Blue, or Patriotic fabrics and financial gifts can be donated and are collected in our quilt shop. Always accepting new members, more information is available by contacting co-ordinator Sharon Clark at skayclark1951@gmail.com. See qovf.org for more information on the national organization.
We love our customers, so feel free to visit us!
If you can't make it to us during business hours, give us a call.
We're often in the shop in the evenings.
